can see and watch digital TV and so Rick learned his basic English and spelling from daytime kids’ programmes.

So in his early years he was soon able to read newspapers and magazines which were lying around.

When his farmhouse home was set on fire by a pair of useless arsonists, they kidnapped him and dumped him on the Hume Highway where he was rescued by Bob who has just started work with FIS.  And it was on Bob’s laptop that he first could type.

…and Dave Finn

DAVID FINN, the true author of ‘ALMOST HUMAN’ died on 1st December 2017 aged 85, just a few weeks after seeing his book in print.

He was born in England and emigrated to Australia with his wife Jayne and children on the second voyage of the SS Canberra in the 1960s.

He was a research chemist of some international distinction, having invented brake blocks made without asbestos and exported world-wide from Australia.  This alone has saved an incalculable number of people from suffering and dying from the
lung disease asbestosis, especially
in confined environments such
as the London Underground.

We can reveal, however, that his
secret ambition was to have been
a stand-up comedian — as shown
by his cheerful nature and weird
sense of humour.

This book was his first crime
thriller and is dedicated to Ben,
the dog who accompanied him
when testing brake blocks.

David and Jayne have four
children, eight grandchildren
and a new great grandchild
born on David’s last birthday.

Born on an Australian farm property between Yass and Goulburn in New South Wales, Rick is a unique Australian Kelpie.  Dogs nowadays
